HUB Adelaide

HUB Adelaide is a new coworking and creative networking space that has just opened on Peel Street in Adelaide, South Australia.

Hub Adelaide was officially opened with a party on thursday 5 September 2013 last week.  At the opening party I met street artists, web designers and event managers.  I am looking forward to the breadth of creative people Hub Adelaide attracts and the creative potential.

John Hanlon, Deputy Chief Executive of the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, South Australian State Government, spoke at the opening party.  Mr Hanlon shared that the State Government had recognised that young entrepreneurs were going interstate and overseas and not coming back.  He said that the State Government had been talking with young South Australians that had left the state to find out why and what South Australia could offer to attract young people to stay and particularly find work in innovation and creativity.  They got in touch with some young South Australians who had moved to Berlin and are now involved in a coworking hub in Berlin.

The State Government has played a part in enabling Hub Australia to set up coworking in Adelaide, but the Government is stepping back now to let Hub Adelaide develop.  Mr Hanlon did share that the Minister of Planning and Attorney General the Hon John Rau MP may be working in Hub Adelaide one day a week. This is an exciting opportunity for hubbers!
